Master Duncan Leung

Born in Hong Kong on June 18, 1942. His Chinese name is Leung Shiu Hung.
In 1955 he was introduced by Bruce Lee to Wing Chun, and became the formal disciple of Grandmaster Yip Man, completing the whole Applied Wing Chun System under his SiFu with private lessons.

Between 1955 and 1959, he participated in many Gong Sao (challenge matches) between different schools in Hong Kong.

In 1974, he moved to New York, U.S.A and established his first Wing Chun School at 3 Great Jones Street, New York. At this school Karate masters, Tae Kwon Do practitioners, Boxers, Thai Boxers and Kung Fu stylists would arrive at the doorstep almost daily to challenge Master Duncan this gave SiFu Duncan the opportunity to test his skills against different systems and provided him with valuable practical experience. After a while he designed what was called as the Locked Gate Match. In a Locked Gate Match, Master Duncan would accept the challenge but he would lock the schools gate and put the key away so the winner would get the key and the loser was CARRIED out. Master Duncan never lost a challenge. In 1975, Duncan Leung's school was invited to participate in the Full Contact Free Fight Championships at the Madison Square Garden in New York. His students won every single category they participated in.
In 1976, Master Duncan Leung and his family moved to Virginia after an invitation by the United States authorities to teach at the Navy Base in Norfolk where he instructed the Seal Teams 2 and 4. He has also taught the FBI, Swat Teams, etc.
Master Duncan Leung is maybe the last person to teach what is known as Primitive Wing Chun, where the main objective is the emphasis of effective and logical martial knowledge.
Master Duncan Leung is the founder of Applied Wing Chun. His unique training methods allow his students to gain better fighting skills through the use of Wing Chun in REAL fighting situations. He has many students and disciples teaching in various areas of the world. He has retired from active teaching.
